The Eaton 3S UPS helps to protect your computer equipment in case of everyday events such as lightning strikes, storms, over-demand on the utility grid, accidents, and natural disasters knocking out power without warning.
The following manual guide explains the underlying math and provides a simple solution for those who need to size a UPS. Follow these simple steps to configure an optimal UPS: List all equipment to be protected by the UPS. (Remember to include all equipment that will depend on the UPS for backup power) List the amps and volts. These figures can be found on a plate on the back of the equipment. Multiply amps by volts to determine Volt Amps (VA). Some devices may list their power requirements in watts (W). To convert watts to VA, multiply watts by 1.4. Add the VA Subtotals to get a Total. Multiply the Total by 1.2 to get the Grand Total with a growth of 20%. Use the Grand Total figure to select a UPS. When choosing a UPS be sure that the total VA requirement of supported equipment does not exceed the UPS VA rating. Choose a UPS with a VA capacity at least as large as your system's total requirement. Choosing a UPS larger than required by the electrical load is one way of creating an extended run time.
